Others’ Focus

I understand this image. I understand the post. I even understand the scriptures that line up with this image such as:

“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.”

Philippians 4:8‭ MSG

However, what are we to do when evil and injustice is the focus of others? What happens when the color of a person’s skin is criminalized, demonized, penalized, and minimized?

“because the mouths of wicked liars have opened up against me, talking about me with lying tongues. Hateful words surround me; they attack me for no reason. Instead of returning my love, they accuse me— but I am at prayer. They repay me evil for good, hatred in return for my love.”

Psalms 109:2‭-‬5 CEB

Scripture teaches that we would be hated for the Gospel sake but it does not speak directly about being hated for the sake of skin color.

Yet, scripture provides several examples of this and that group oppressing other groups. Scripture is not afraid to highlight examples of oppression and injustice. But, even then, there is a desire for the oppressors to receive wrath instead of mercy.
